Harold Hemphill
RIP

He loved his Ural Sidecar and rode it to many Lake O' the Pines Rallies.  Harold was a former School Bus Mechanic and Bus Driver for the Eustace ISD from 1987 to 2012. He always had a beaming smile and engaging Texan humor.  Harold tested positive on Christmas Eve and was hospitalized on January 2.  He was on a ventilator for about 3 weeks.

Obituary

Harold David Hemphill, 64, passed away on January 31, 2021.  He was born on November 12, 1956, in Pasadena, CA.

He retired from Eustace ISD after 25 years of loyal service as a bus driver and mechanic.  He never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone, even give them the shirt off his back.  Harold was a true kid at heart, always up for taking the off-road route.  One of his lifelong passions was riding motorcycles.  He was a member of the Texas Ural Riders Division & Sidecar Enthusiast, as well as a lifetime member of the North Texas Norton Owners Association.  Another passion of his was collecting and working on clocks.  Harold will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of nine years, Tonnie Marie; children Correy Hemphill and wife Leslie, Steven Hemphill and wife Lindsey, Daniel Hemphill and wife Jill, stepson Steven Faust; granddaughter Kamryn Hemphill; brother Clarence Hemphill; nephew Chris Hemphill.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents Clarence Bynum and Lillian Catherine Hemphill.

Rev. Robert Reeve will officiate for the Hemphill family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

The family requests that all in attendance wear a mask and practice social distancing.  The family understands that hugs are a way of showing care, but having been in the COVID ward at the hospital, we ask that friends and family refrain from hugging.

Ride to Harold’s Service

There was a service organized by David Johanson for a group motorcycle ride to the graveside service.

Motorcycles and sidecars (even 4 wheelers) rode to the service starting at the Roost Cafe on the square (next to city hall) in Eustace, TX.

They departed at 1:45pm for the 2.5 mile trip to the cemetery, ride a loop around the cemetery, then attended the service.
