The August Club Meeting was at Mark Peterson's Southwest Superbikes on Sunday, Aug. 28th.

August Meeting Recap
by Chris Parry

The August meeting was kindly hosted by proprietor Mark Peterson at Southwest Superbikes - fresh from a motorcycle trip in Alaska.

Despite the 97f temps - most members chose to ride and several rode vintage. Kudos!

Chris Parry opened the meeting at 2pm with a vote of thanks to Mark and his team; and Mark took the opportunity to say a few words about Dennis Tackett and to raise a toast.

After a welcome to new members and guests, our President Richard Asprey and Chris reminded attendees of the following:

Dennis’ funeral takes place at 1:30pm on Thursday 1st September at the National Cemetery in Dallas. It is an express wish of Dennis’ that club members ride to his funeral. The plan is to gather at the Spirit Grille in Irving - kickstands up at 12:30pm sharp to ride to the National Cemetery which takes approximately 30mins. So arrive early if you plan to eat before.

Annual dues increase from $30 to $40 on September 1, so renew no later than this Wed 31st to save.

Members can also save by pre-registering for our Land o’the Pines Rallye by no later than August 31st. Member prices are $35 and $45 for family. Non-member pricing is $40 and $50. These prices will increase by $10 if you pay at the Rallye.  Click here to pre-register.

But the biggest benefit is that pre-registered Rallye attendees get five FREE raffle bike tickets at the Rallye - that’s a $20 value!

Richard and Chris appealed for volunteers to help with obtaining door prizes for the Rallye. Aside for asking motorcycle related businesses for door prizes - members may also donate prizes as long as they are brand new and ideally in the original packaging.

Richard also issued a general invitation to Peckerheads on Friday 2nd Sep when the Coast II Coast riders will visit the Little House on their cross country ride. This ride is benefit fallen/injured Special Forces members and their families. https://coastxcoast.org/rideforthefallen/  More details will be on the this website shortly.

The meeting closed with grateful thanks to Mark and Southwest Superbikes.
