[Bev's Obituary]

James Beverly “Bev” Bowen, Jr., 74, of Plano, TX, passed away on January 27, 2022 in Dallas, TX from pancreatic cancer.

A memorial service will be held at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Dallas on February 15 at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. L. Nelson Bell II officiating.

Bev was born in Macon, GA to James Beverly Bowen, Sr. and Mary Lee Patterson Bowen on August 24, 1947. He graduated from Murrah High School in Jackson, MS in 1965. Bev continued his education at the University of Mississippi where he graduated with a degree in Pharmacy. He worked in sales and sales management for Abbott Laboratories for over 20 years, for which he received numerous sales awards. Bev enjoyed motorcycling, singing, playing guitar and ukulele, and watching baseball and Ole Miss football. He was a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, a tenor in the Highland Park Presbyterian Chancel Choir, a member of the International Vincent Motorcycle Club for which he wrote numerous stories, and enjoyed participating in the Dallas Ukulele Club. His story telling, sense of humor, and infectious smile made him loved by so many.

Bev is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gail Temple Bowen of Plano, TX, his daughters Temple Bowen Truax (Michael) of Plano, TX and Abigail Bowen Szymonik (Jason) of Chandler, AZ, his grandchildren Cade, Amelia, and Luke, and his sister Sandra Bowen Bell of Nashville, TN.

Memorial donations may be made to Highland Park Presbyterian Church Music Department at 3821 University Blvd, Dallas, TX 75025.

Bev was a dear friend to everyone who knew him and an active member of the NTNOA. He was a avid motorcyclist who especially enjoyed riding his red Vincents. There was a group ride by club members riding vintage bikes to Bev's memorial service.
