The March Club Meeting & Swap Meet was at Big D Cycle Sunday, March 31st

Sunday, March 31 Meeting at Big D Cycle

The March meeting at Big D Cycle was in conjunction with a swap meet which gave several members an opportunity to sell some of their unwanted stuff. The rest of us had a good time looking at the very cool things for sale, and making some purchases. Everyone had a good time enjoying the awesome classic motorcycles on display at Big D, and the excellent taco lunch which the Big D team (Keith, Ryan and Grady) provided for us.

At 2pm we had our formal meeting, led by President Chris. He opened by leading a big round of applause for Big D Cycle, to thank them for doing a fine job of hosting and feeding us!

After introducing guests and new members, Chris moved on to cover future events:

Annual Hill Country trip on April 16-21. Itinerary as follows:

     • Tuesday April 16 - Peachtree Inn, Fredericksburg, TX
     • Wednesday April 17 - Historic Rocksprings Hotel, Rocksprings, TX
     • Thursday-Saturday April 18/19/20 - The Historic Leakey Inn, Leakey, TX

Everyone who already has accommodation assigned should have received a recent email asking who wants a BBQ dinner on Saturday April 20th. Meal confirmation and any questions to Richard Bowman at bowman@ntnoa.org.  There are still a few rooms available at each location – let Richard Bowman know asap if interested.

The following events need volunteer help from the club members:

1. Saturday, April 21: The All British & European Car Day (“ABCDE”) at the Bath House at White Rock Lake in Dallas is at the same time as the Hill Country ride. Chris asked for volunteers (who are not going to the Hill Country) to take and show their British/European motorcycles, and to take the Norton raffle bike and sell tickets. The raffle bike is currently on display at South West Superbikes. Anyone helping out will be rewarded with free raffle tickets. After the event, the bike can be returned to Big D to be stored until the April 27 Flat Track event.

Volunteers so far:
     • Penny and Paul Martin
     • Mark Dunn
     • Gary Brooks
     • Richard Cross

2. Saturday April 27: Flat Track Racing at Texas Motor Speedway. Al Lamb, owner of Dallas Honda, and a big supporter of the NTNOA, will be attending with his American Honda Flat Track team, and as sponsor of Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda Challenge. Al has secured a location for the club to sell raffle tickets. We need volunteers to manage the ticket sales. Those helping will be given free entry to the event. Richard Asprey will take care of moving the bike etc. for this event.

Volunteers so far:
     • Penny and Paul Martin
     • Robert Martin

NOTE: The Pate Swap Meet is also at the Texas Motor Speedway on April 25/26/27

3. We have plans to take the raffle bike to different dealers around the Metroplex who are friends of the club, and who have kindly agreed to have the bike on their showroom floors to sell raffle tickets. Thanks again to Moto Liberty who displayed the bike in March. Thanks also to Mark Peterson at Southwest Superbikes who currently has the bike on display. We need volunteers to move the bike between dealers . The next move needed will be following the April 27 Flat Track event when the bike will need taking to Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda showroom.

Volunteers so far:
     • Gary Brooks
     • Mark Dunn

Thanks to those who have volunteered, but more volunteers are needed for all three events. Please email ntnoa@ntnoa.org with updates. Your club needs your help!!.

Other business:

Make sure you have this year’s 40th anniversary Land of the Pines (“LOP”) Rallye on your calendars: Friday, Saturday and Sunday October 4/5/6. Plan on attending and bringing your vintage motorcycle to exhibit in the bike show.

Several club members have bikes for sale. Take a look at the classifieds on www.ntnoa.org for more information.

Congratulations to Kent “Midas Touch” Ramsey who was the lucky winner of the 50/50 for the second month in a row!

Next Meeting:

The next club meeting will be on Sunday April 28th, hosted by Richard Asprey. It will be either at Richard’s ranch in Paradise, TX or at the Little House in Southlake, TX. Location will be determined by the weather and announced on www.NTNOA.org.
