Meeting on Sunday, September 24 at Phil Dansby’s Residence in Coppell, TX

Our September, 2023 meeting was at Phil Dansby’s residence in Coppell. Phil is a founder member of the NTNOA, and it’s a true pleasure to see the beautiful motorcycles and the collection of awards and memorabilia on display in his home.

The meeting was well attended with about fifty people, and at least 20 motorcycles.

Chris Parry opened the meeting by thanking Phil Dansby for hosting us, and for providing sandwiches for the hungry mob. Chris spoke about club member Jay Pope who recently passed away. Several club members attended his celebration of life service on September 9th. Ken Cartwright has had health issues, but we were happy to hear that he is recovering. Also Mark Peterson was at the meeting on crutches, but he is on the road to recovery from his leg injury.

We welcomed Bob Bishop as a new member. He is actually a former member who has now re-joined. Welcome back, Bob!

Chris reminded everyone about the upcoming 39th LOP Rallye at Yellow Rose Canyon (new location for us). It’s Friday – Sunday, September 29th – October 1st. On-line pre-registration closes on Tuesday Sep. 26th. If you don’t pre-register you can pay at the gate. We’re still looking for door prizes for the Award Ceremony, which can be brought to the Rallye and given to Rallye Chairman, Richard Bowman. Chris reminded rallye attendees to bring folding chairs to use at the field events and Award Ceremony.

Chris talked about the recent “Vincents Across America” ride where a group riding vintage Vincent motorcycles crossed the continent from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon, and then headed south to join the 2023 Vincent Owners Club International Rally in Ventura and Cambria, California. Three of those at the meeting participated in the event. Scooter Jay McCurry and Mark Dunn were part of the logistics team, and Chris Parry rode with the group for some of the final sections.

Stanley Miller announced that members of the Cherokee Chapter of the AMCA participated in the Black Hills AMCA Chapter’s National Road Run on September 5-7, which was a big success. He also reminded us that the Born Free Rally will be at the Yellow Rose Canyon on October 19-22, and the Cherokee Chapter of the AMCA will be attending.

Chris announced the next club meeting which will be at Jeff Myers residence near Midlothian, TX. Jeff was present at the meeting and told us he is planning a “Shoptoberfest” theme, so wear your lederhosen! Some recommended rides to Jeff’s place will be posted on NTNOA.org.

And finally, the winner of the 50/50 was Gary Anderson. Gary also won the 50/50 last month, so another ticket was picked after he won this time, and guess what, Gary “Lucky” Anderson won again! Amazing!

Hope to see you all soon at the LOP!
Richard Bowman
NTNOA VP and Rallye Chairman
