The 33rd Land O' the Pines Rallye Recap

September 28th – October 1st  - 2017

Rallye Chairman - Dennis Tackett

This rallye was our second year at Diamond Don's RV Park located just one mile north of Jefferson, TX. The well maintained campground located in the woods of East Texas provided a great venue for our 33rd rallye.  The campground sits on 100 acres and has 50 RV hook ups, clean restrooms, free Wi-Fi, a huge covered pavilion with a stage, sound system, lighting. We'll be back there next year.

BMOA President Many thanks to the British Motorcycle Owners Association (B.M.O.A.) and their President Jamie Farquhar for organizing and putting on the Field Events Friday afternoon. A very special thanks to Sean Rizzo for being an outstanding master of ceremony.

The Fun at the Rallye Never Ends!

From Sam Ingraffia, Camano Island, WA

First let me say thanks to the officers of the NTNOA for another fine rally. I always enjoy it. Now along that line on the subject, I would like to share a letter I submitted to the BSA club a couple of months ago.

I’ve been asked many times why I come to the LOP rally year after year. While it’s certainly not for the riding (though it’s excellent) and the bike show is always outstanding, the following short essay, I think, illustrates what many of the NTNOA members feel when we all show up for the LOP every year.

Reflections of the “All British Clubmans Show”.

After the stunning announcement after the end-of-show ceremonies that this was the 30th and last Clubmans show ever, I tried to let that sink in. Several days afterward, some thoughts and feelings welled-up about what it meant to so many of us.

As a founding member of the BSA club NC, I have not missed a single one of the 30 shows. My membership in the motorcycle clubs, activities and meets over the last 40 years have blessed me with untold numbers of friends and acquaintances.

So for 20 years now I have made my annual ritual trek to San Jose for the Clubmans show. The one constant was always that I looked forward to seeing old friends and pals some of whom I’ve known for 40 years or more.

I looked forward to hanging out for the day, catching up with our lives, telling lies about the old days, cutting-up and just pulling each other’s legs. Doesn’t get much better than that, right? Then parting with something like, “well see ya next year, hope you’re better looking then”, and go our separate ways all over the country.

Well lately my thoughts have me realizing just what that one day meant to me. So many of the folks that I know and value our friendship, I will never, ever see you again and that saddens me. Oh I know some of us will still visit with each other, but so many others may not be able to.

I was thinking, “if only I had known beforehand that this would be the last, we would have had a more meaningful farewell”. Now it just seems kind of empty. To all of you out there, as the song says, “thanks for the memories”.

Ciao Bella,
Sam Ingraffia
NTNOA Member 573
