2014 Harvest Classic Rallye
by Randy Bauer
Harvest Classic this year was one of the best ever. You could not ask for better weather, warm during the day and cool at night, perfect for camping.
Robb Green and I left Dallas around 7:00 AM to meet up with Brent Grusendorf and Fred Howell in Hico at the Koffee Kup. We finished eating when Brent came in and we found out later that Fred's sleeping bag came loose and
wrapped around his back wheel. Luckily he did not go down. He ended up riding in with Steve Adkins and Randy Johnson.
We had a few from the club there. I saw Dickey Hunter and we camped down the way from Bruce Davidson and Dave Edinger, Steve, Randy, and Fred came in Saturday, along with Wendy and Dave Griffith.
Always a good bike show. Check out the picks. Revival Cycles of Austin always have great bikes. We saw the Kawasaki's W650 that is on the cover of next month’s Motorcycle Classics. If you are ever in Austin that's one
shop to see. We were there at Rockers vs Mods in the spring.
On the way home Sunday on HWY 16 we went through Llano at lunch time so why not stop at Cooper's BBQ? Over stuffed from lunch we headed on through San Saba, just north is the Regency Suspension Bridge. It's off the
beaten path about 15min. west. Great road to ride. The road north to the bridge was barricaded off so we went around them on the gravel road to the bridge. The bridge was restored in the 90's but it's time again. We
walked a crossed the bridge with all the bad boards and holes. I'm not too fond of heights the bridge is at least 60ft above the Colorado River. Next time you are down that way check it out, it's worth a few minutes out
of the way.
See you soon, VP Randy.
