It is with great sadness that I have to share the tragic
news that we have lost our great friend and stalwart NTNOA Club Officer and
Member Dennis Tackett.
Dennis went up to Muenster early on Sunday, August 7th - on one of his favourite routes, riding the new bike he was so pleased with…. and
tragically he will not be coming back. Based on what we know he slid out on a patch of oil in a corner near Krum.
There are no words to describe the heartbreak and devastation we all feel -
it is too soon and too raw. As we learn more in the coming days - we will
share arrangements.

There was a celebration of life for Dennis at the Little
House on Friday, August 19th.
You can shed tears that
they are gone
Or you can smile because they have lived
You can close your eyes and pray that they will come back Or you can open
your eyes and see all that they have left
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see them Or you can be full of the
love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday Or you can be happy
for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember them and only that they are gone Or you can cherish their
memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back Or you can do
what they would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
From Dean Baker
So many friends gone.
"Life may scatter us and keep us apart; it may prevent us from thinking very
often of one another; but we know that our comrades are somewhere "out
there" - where, one can hardly say - silent, forgotten but deeply faithful.
An when our path crosses theirs, the greet us with such manifest joy...
"Bit by bit, nevertheless, it comes over us that we shall never again hear
the laughter of our friend, that this one garden is forever locked against
us. And at that moment begins our true mourning... For nothing, in truth can
replace that companion.
Old friends cannot be created out of hand.
Nothing can match the treasure of common memories... It is idle, having
planted an acorn in the morning, to expect that afternoon to sit in the
shade of the oak.
"So life goes on. For years we plant the seed, we feel ourselves rich; and
then come other years when time does its work and our plantation is made
sparse and thin. One by one, our companions slip away, depriving us of their
shade."
