February 2023 Meeting on Sunday, February 26th at Eurosport Cycle
The second monthly meeting for 2023 went very well indeed. The weather was good,
and 52 motorcycles were ridden to the event. With pillions and car drivers,
there were at least 70 members and guests participating.
Eurosport has recently completed their renovations, and it looks great. The
showroom area is very impressive with a great selection of new machines on
display. Tony and Martha Lewis were there to host us with the help of their
team, and they served up a very tasty fried chicken lunch. Also “AK” from Law
Tigers was there with lots of goodies to hand out.
Tony put on a very useful and entertaining presentation about roadside repairs.
He shared the gadgets and tools he carries on a long trip and showed us how to
use them. A highlight was when he used a drill to puncture a tire so that he
could demonstrate using a tire repair kit.
The official part of the club meeting got underway as usual at 2pm. President
Chris Parry was our MC, and he started by thanking Tony and Martha for being our
hosts, and for being longtime supporters of the club.
There were a number of “bikes for sale” announcements made at the meeting. Chris
reminded us that all members can take advantage of the “classified” section of
the club website on NTNOA.ORG. Contact our webmaster, George Tuttle at
george@ntnoa.org
if you have a bike to sell.
Chris gave an update about regular club events which are in addition to the
monthly meetings. See ntnoa.org for more information.
• Tuesday night – Two Wheel Social at the Back 9 Bar and Grill in Addison • Wednesday night – Dallas Bike Night – venue changes, so check the website • Sunday afternoon/evening 3pm onwards at the Dubliner on Greenville Avenue • Every third Saturday morning breakfast and ride at Caroline’s Country Café in
Midlothian • Sunday morning – Sunday Breakfast 10am at the Boulevard Café in North Richland
Hills. This is a DFW Vintage Motorcycles group event organized by long-time
NTNOA member, Bill Felton.
Several guests were introduced, followed by a number of club updates:
• Good news that Jay Pope’s health continues to improve since his surgery. • A number of members attended Lance McGehee’s funeral in Rowlett on February
16th. Lance passed away following a road traffic accident when he was riding
home after our January meeting. Please, please, please be careful out there! • The annual Spring Hill Country ride in Leakey, Texas is coming up on 20-23rd
April, and as usual the club has secured all rooms and cabins at the Historic
Leakey Inn. Cathy Ramsey (aka Crazy Cathy) has kindly volunteered to coordinate
the rooms, so if you’re looking for accommodation there please coordinate with
Cathy, and let her know if you have a preferred room or cabin. • The 2023 Rallye will be at the Yellow Rose Canyon RV Resort on Sep 29 – Oct 1.
This year’s rallye is basically to test out the new venue in preparation for the
40th anniversary rallye in 2024. It’s a large facility with good amenities, so
we’re expecting a really good event with a great turnout.
• Note that the club has already acquired the raffle bike for the 2024 rallye.
It’s a 1974 Norton Commando MK2. Ticket sales for the 2024 bike will begin soon
at club events, and online. Please be aware, and let everyone know, that there
won’t be a 2023 raffle bike, and therefore no bike winner at this year’s rallye.
All ticket sales this year and next year, will be for the bike drawing at the
2024 40th anniversary rallye. • Reminder that we’re looking for volunteer ride captains to organize and
coordinate group rides. Thank you to Jeff Myers who stepped up at the meeting
and has some great ideas for rides South of the metroplex. More to come on that,
but in the meantime, we’re still looking for more volunteers for other rides. • Several members have hit their five year anniversaries and have been asking
about the appropriate patches. Chris has tracked some down which will be
distributed, and can be used as templates to get some more made. • Upcoming club events include the British Car and Bike show at the British
Emporium in Grapevine on Sunday April 30th (in conjunction with the April
meeting) and the All British and European Car Day in Dallas (White Rock Lake) on
Sunday May 7th. These will both be all-day events and we’ll need some help, so
please volunteer if you can do a shift at either or both. • Next club meeting will be on Sunday March 26th at Crashed Toys, Dallas. This
is in conjunction with the Jon Neuman benefit auction. We will be selling
tickets to the 2024 raffle bike and will need a few volunteers to help sell
tickets for the full day (i.e. during the auction hours, not just the club
meeting hours).
Mike Ross won the 50-50!
