The Meeting was held at Al Lamb's Honda Dealership on
635 - despite the heat we had great attendance, with many riding
including several vintage bikes.
Al and his Mom worked hard and provided a great spread: two huge
briskets with all the extras - they put in a lot of effort to make the
Club welcome. Judging by the silence while folks were eating - everyone
thought it was delicious.
Prior to the meeting - we wandered through the range of Honda
motorcycles and ATVs. Al demonstrated the Dual Clutch Transmission on
the Gold Wing to Chris Parry - no clutch lever and a rocker switch
controls neutral and drive - with the ability to select automatic versus
manual shifting. The latter uses paddles on the lefthand control group
to shift up and down. This simply huge bike is supplied with forward and
rear creep ability for maneuvering as well as an airbag yet is
surprisingly easy to put on the centrestand. Mike Med - our ex-treasurer
- did his best to get Chris into trouble by texting pictures of him on
the bike to his wife Monica.
Dennis Tackett - our Rallye Chairman - opened with a vote of thanks for
Al and Mrs Lamb, then Dennis related the success of the recent Epic Ride
through the Smokies - which was attended by members of SoCal Norton and
the NTNOA. Everyone had a great time and hit some awesome roads, notably
the Cherohala Skyway, the Blue Ridge Mountain Trail and the Tail of the
Dragon. The ride ended on a high note at the Barber Museum in Alabama.
Our Treasurer Jane West could not attend the meeting but asked that we
remind all Members that dues are to be renewed at August 1.
Under upcoming rides, Chris reminded everyone that the Motorcycle
Cannonball is starting September with participation from Team Norton.
Delayed from 2020 due to covid - the route starts at Sault Ste Marie in
the Michigan UP, heads to Myrtle Beach on the east coast before
returning west and south into Texas. The Team Norton Riders are Richard
Asprey, Stewart Garrison (also attending the meeting), Keith Martin and
Chris Parry. The crew includes Ryan and Grady as before, and NTNOA
members are very welcome to visit with us at stops on the way. The Texas
overnight stops are Nacogdoches, Victoria, McAllen and the finish line
is South Padre Island. More details are available at
www.motorcyclecannonball.com and we will be re-starting the blogsite
shortly - the link is

Dennis closed the meeting with another vote of thanks to
Al Lamb. Next month's meeting will be announced here as soon as
possible.
