March 2023 Meeting on Sunday, March 26 at CrashedToys, Dallas
We wrapped up the first quarter of 2023 with two events. Our March
monthly meeting on Sunday March 26, and we had a special visit to
Eurosport Cycle on Saturday, March 25 (more on that below). The
weather was perfect for the entire weekend!
The monthly meeting was in conjunction with the Jon Neuman benefit
auction which started at 9:30 am, and carried on all day.
CrashedToys did a fine job hosting the auction, and it ran very
smoothly. Many thanks to the NTNOA team who took the raffle bike and
equipment to and from the CrashedToys location, and also the
volunteers who provided all-day coverage selling tickets. The raffle
bike is a beautiful 1974 Norton Commando, and the drawing will be
during the 2024, 40th anniversary rallye.
The meeting part of the day started at 2:00 pm, and was well
attended with 29 motorcycles and close to 50 members and guests.
Chris was the MC for the official part of the NTNOA meeting, and
started by thanking CrashedToys for their generosity in hosting both
the benefit auction and our club meeting.
Chris shared the great news that Jay Pope’s health continues to
improve! He also ran through upcoming events:
• March 31–April 2, 2023: Texas Fandango in Fredericksburg, TX
(hosted by the Cherokee Chapter of the AMCA)
• April 20-23: NTNOA Spring Hill Country Ride in Leakey, TX
• April 18: Vintage Track Day at Harris Hill Raceway in San Marcos,
TX
• April 19: Rocksprings, TX
• You can just go to Leakey, just go to the track day, or do the
track day and ride from San Marcos to Rocksprings to Leakey. Cathy
Ramsey is our excellent accommodation coordinator for this event.
See ntnoa.org for more details.
• April 30: April club meeting in conjunction with the British
Emporium British Car & Bike Show in Grapevine, TX
• May 7: All British & European Car Day, White Rock Lake, Dallas, TX
• May 21: Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride, Dallas, TX
The NTNOA LOP Rallye in our new location at the Yellow Rose Canyon
near Mount Enterprise, TX will be held on September 28–October 1:
• Details are still being worked out, but the dates are firm. Block
your calendars and tell your friends to do the same.
• We will need door prizes for the Rallye, and Chris asked everyone,
especially those with connections with local businesses, to ask for
contributions. To avoid asking a business more than once, please
email ntnoa@ntnoa.org to let us all know who has been approached for
prizes.
The members at the meeting shared several recent bike purchases and
bikes for sale. Reminder that club members can take advantage of the
“classified” section of the club website on ntnoa.org. Contact our
webmaster, George Tuttle at george@ntnoa.org if you have a bike to
sell.
Carmine LiDestri is a professional photographer who runs Visual
Image Media, and he attended the meeting. He has extensive
experience photographing motorcycles which is a great way of
presenting them on-line for sale, etc. Carmine offered a motorcycle
studio photography session for half price for NTNOA members. His
number is 214.335.3819.
The Eurosport Cycle event on Saturday March 25 was in conjunction
with an amazing display from the Triumph Stunt Team. Eurosport
invited the club to attend (thank you Tony and Martha!) to sell
raffle tickets.
Many raffle tickets were sold over the weekend which really helps
club funds. A very big thank you to all the club volunteers on
Saturday and Sunday who made the ticket sales possible!
