NTNOA March 2025 Club Meeting, 3/30/2025
By VP Jay Tynes
The March meeting was held at the home of Jeanne and John
Skaras in Prosper, Texas. The Skarases really raised the bar with the
excellent food that was provided for the meeting. The delicious Greek
cuisine was outstanding. Huge thanks to Jeanne and a few of her neighbors
for putting on such an incredible spread. Club President Richard Bowman
kicked off the club business and announcements part of the meeting a few
minutes early so that some members could ride home and avoid the incoming
storms, and others could go catch more of the Moto GP races. Richard was
using the new mini-PA system kindly donated to the club by Mark Dunn.
We had one guest, Cary, who is signing up to join the club. The club was
reminded that raffle bike is a beautiful 2009 Moto Guzzi Norge. It was on
display at the British Emporium event held in Grapevine two weeks back.
Tickets have started selling. They are available for purchase on the club
website as well as in person at upcoming events. For those who may not know
yet, the raffle bike was very generously donated in memory of Arlene Kobos,
a cherished wife, friend and club member.
Richard reminded us that the annual Hill Country ride is quickly approaching
(April 10,11,12,13). Penny Martin gave us an update on bookings, and only
one room was still available as of the meeting at the Historic Leaky Inn. (NOTE
– as of April 2, there are now two rooms available. Contact Penny at
pcd1161@aol.com if interested).
Next up was the topic of LOP cabins (the East Texas Rallye held in the
fall). We did the drawing for the remaining cabins. In order they were:
#1 Jamie Farquhar-Rizzo
#2 Ed Sass
#3 John Cartwright
#4 Christian Davidson
Everyone who asked for a cabin got selected!
New projects mentioned were a 1974 TY80 purchased from Southwest Super Bikes
that was part of a big collection that is currently for sale. Also mentioned
was a 1971 BSA Thunderbolt. In other business it was shared that Jason Small
has set up his paint shop at Big D Cycle and that Paul Dalton is also
available for paint work.
The next meeting is on April 27th and will take place at the MonkeyMoto
Motorcycle dealership in Argyle, TX. You can learn more about them at

Chris Parry and others let the group know that there’s a Bikes & Coffee
event on Sundays at the square in Denton. You can go there from 9am and then
ride down to MonkeyMoto who will be open for us from 11am onwards.
Richard thanked Jeanne and John Skaras one more time for hosting an
excellent meeting with outstanding food.
To conclude the meeting the 50/50 drawing was done. The winner was Bruce
Fishlock, congratulations!
