Our 2018 September Club Meeting was at Local Moto on Sunday, Sept. 23rd.
1605 N. Beckley Ave., Dallas
Many thanks to Ben & Tiffany Johnson, owners of Local Moto + Provisions for hosting our September meeting. Most members and guests arrived early to enjoy lunch provided by "The Hamburger Man" who catered the meeting. Also on hand was a great selection of cold beverages.
Despite the inclement weather the meeting was well attended with many riding to the meeting.
Dennis Tackett MC'd the meeting as our President, Richard Asprey was on the last leg of the 16-day Motorcycle Cannonball which consisted of 107 riders riding 3,441 miles on motorcycles built before 1929.
It started on Sept. 6th from Portland, Maine and ended Sept. 23rd in Portland, Oregon. Richard was joined by Chris Parry and Keith Martin. All three riding single cylinder, flat tank Nortons.
Dennis started the meeting by acknowledging new members and guests. There were three new members who joined in September. They are Jeremy Priest, Lance McGehee and Frank Johnson.
Team Norton's success was mentioned next.
Chris riding a 1923 Norton 16H finished 2nd, Keith on a 1924 Norton 16H finished 3rd in their category. Chris and Keith rode all 3,441 miles with a perfect score meaning they completed all the required miles in the
allowed time. Within each category riders are positioned based on mileage ridden then on the year of the bike. Based on age a 1920 Triumph was first in their category. Richard rode all but 11 miles
and ended up 7th in his category.
