Big D fielded their new vintage road racer #277 - a 1979 T140 provided the frame and drivetrain - and Big D threw all their expertise and experience in historic road racing into the build.
Even by Big D standards, this bike is special and rewards a careful examination - with a wealth of attention to detail and pains taken. They also brought along Ala'Verda for a testing session - featured
in CycleWorld - this bike now belongs to Richard Asprey and was built by a Frenchman as a track day special. It has a Norton Commando drivetrain in a Laverda trellis frame - and the paint job is extra
special.
Modern bikes were fielded by Henry Hart with his Triumph Daytona 675 - previously campaigned by Ryan Ambrose in CMRA - and bringing up the rear (literally as well as figuratively) was yours truly. I
brought the 2004 Yamaha R6 track day bike and the 2005 MV Agusta F4 for its first taste of the track. The F4 was something special to hear, and ride.
Major thanks go to Tony & Martha and their crew at Eurosport Cycle for organizing the day. They always put on a very professional (and safe!) event. They run two groups - one for track day novices with
classroom learning, and one for riders who have accomplished a few track days or have racing experience. I can attest to the quality of their instruction and their patience, I've been through their
curriculum at least twice and would highly recommend attending their events as a way of improving your street skills, no matter what level you are.
Finally - thanks to Anthony Armstrong for assembling the video footage and taking photographs!
