Sunday,
August 25 Meeting at Ford’s Garage
Our August 2024
meeting was held in Ford’s Garage restaurant in Plano, TX. This was
a new venue for the NTNOA, and many thanks to Randy Bauer for
recommending it and making the arrangements for the meeting. Ford’s
Garage has a classic Ford car theme, which is very well done. It
also has good air conditioning, which is a requirement for our
August meeting! The waitstaff were very attentive and looked after
us well. The turnout was great with around 60 folks. The motorcycle
count was lower than usual, which was to be expected with the heat.
Many thanks to those who ignored the weather and showed up on two
wheels anyway!
At 2pm Chris Parry, our club president, led the business and
announcements portion of the meeting. Chris opened with a big thank
you to Ford’s Garage for looking after us.
We had two new members attending – Santiago and Patrick.
Chris asked about any recent notable rides made by club members.
Chris himself had a ride to report – he made a recent trip in
Ireland along the Wild Atlantic Way. Richard Asprey was recently
riding in Colorado and adjacent states. His new favorite road is
North of Vernal, UT heading towards Flaming Gorge.
Chris and Richard reminded everyone that the Coast-to-Coast Ride for
the Fallen will be stopping at the Little House this Friday, August
30. Coast to Coast is a veteran led non-profit organization which
supports veterans from the Special Operations community. Please come
and support them as they make this stop on their annual
cross-country journey. You can arrive from 5pm onwards. Unlimited
motorcycle parking at the Little House. Cars and trucks can park
close by at White’s Chapel Methodist Church and there will be ATVs
transporting folks to and from the parking facility. More details on
www.NTNOA.org.
Rallye Chairman Richard Bowman gave an update on the upcoming 40th
Anniversary LOP Rallye at Yellow Rose Canyon in East Texas. Just
over five weeks to go before the Rallye on October 4/5/6. Richard
reviewed the changes made to this year’s rallye schedule:
• A Fun Run for small, street legal machines (125cc or smaller) on
Friday evening.
• We’ll have live music entertainment on Saturday Night care of the
GO-GO Rillas https://thegogorillas.com/
• Tents will now be allowed in the RV park and will be able to use
the power hook ups. The RV space will have to be reserved and paid
for in the same way as for RV use. Up to four tents can share an RV
space, as long as they all fit within the allocated area.
You can register for the rallye, reserve RV sites and reserve tee
shirts on-line via the link at
www.NTNOA.org
We need everyone’s help publicizing the event (soft copies of flyers
can be provided) and finding door prizes. Please visit local
motorcycle related businesses to give them a flyer and to ask for
door prize donations. Let us know who you’ve visited and the door
prizes you’ve been given by sending an email to
ntnoa@ntnoa.org
Chris asked for updates on club members: John Cartwright is back on
his feet and was present at the meeting! Shirley Pope joined Jeff
Myers and group on their last ride, and was on her new motorcycle!
Regarding member’s projects – Congratulations to Jody McClure who
has his chopper running!
Congratulations to Mike Mulcahey, our lucky 50/50 winner!
Next month’s meeting is on Sunday
September 29th at Phil Dansby’s residence.
