The NTNOA's 2006 June Meeting
was Sunday, 25 June at 2:00 PM at
Phil Craine's hangar (home of the Harley Dog
Saloon)
at
Hicks Field
Sunday's meeting was one of the best attended
all year. Many thanks to our host Phil Crane for a super venue.
Phil provided refreshments and shade for all our bikes by making
his hangar available for parking. We had close to 40 members
present with most ridding their vintage bikes - the majority of
which were from England wearing Triumph and Norton badges. BMW
was also well represented followed by Harley-Davidson. It
was a special treat to see Ward Hogue
ride up on his 1970 Triumph Bonneville from Bridgeport and
Charles Busbee on his Honda Hawk
from Oak Cliff.

Clay Walley started the formal portion of our
meeting just about on time. Dennis Tackett gave us an overview
of this year's rally schedule of
events. It is important to note that this year the Saturday Bike
Show will be in the morning from 10:00 AM to noon to allow for
more field events in the afternoon. Registration for the bike
show will be from 8:00 to 10:00 AM. The field events will
include a Cold Start Race, a Ride the Plank contest, both a
Kid's and Adult's Obstacle Course and perhaps one or two more.
The Burnout Pit will be Saturday night after the awards ceremony
which will start at 6:00 PM. Dennis trailered this year's raffle
bike, a '73 Norton Combat Commando to the meeting for all to see
and sell raffle tickets. Dennis plans on riding it at the rally
to and from the Friday night Catfish Dinner. Raffle tickets are
$5 each or five for $20 and will be available to purchase at all
upcoming meetings and at the rally.

Jay McCurry, aka Scooter Jay, passed around a
container for donations to go to Terry Poovey's wife. Terry was
injured at the Springfield Mile. He has been transported back to
Texas and his doctors believe he should make a full recovery but
was still in a coma as of the meeting. To add to the fund Jake
Hendricks auctioned off one of his dirt track racing t-shirts.
